Protecting your setting’s images from AI manipulation and abuse
Guidance for education settings and organisations working with children and young people
New UK-wide guidance has been published to support education settings and organisations working with children and young people to manage the use of photos and videos across their online platforms, in response to the growing and evolving risks of AI image manipulation.
This document looks at the responsible management, sharing and protection of photographs and videos, particularly those featuring children and young people. This includes images used across education settings’ websites, social media platforms and other digital spaces.
The guidance has been developed by the UK Online Harms Early Warning Working Group in collaboration with partners, including input and review from the Safeguarding Board for Northern Ireland (SBNI) Online Safety Committee and the NI Executive’s Online Safety Strategy Cross-Departmental Implementation Group.
It has been disseminated across the UK to education settings and organisations through safeguarding and child protection networks.
What does the guidance cover?
Key areas including:

- The risks of using young people’s images online
