This symbol version spotlight report of the Safeguarding Board for Northern Ireland’s (SBNI) Growing Up Online project aims to make the findings of this important and timely research more accessible to a wide range of children and young people with learning difficulties.
As part of the research, the project team from the Centre for Research in Educational Underachievement (CREU) at Stranmillis University College, engaged directly with two groups of young people with severe learning difficulties in a local special school, and so this ground-breaking spotlight report represents a commitment to providing an accessible resource for such young people, offering a summary of the findings and advice on how to stay safe online.
The project team and the SBNI would like to thank all those who participated in the research project and the creation of the symbol version spotlight report.
“Our young people, all of whom have a severe learning difficulty participated in the research data collection for Growing Up Online NI. The symbol version of the research report is incredibly valuable as it makes the findings so much more accessible for our young people. We need more specialist resources like this to help young people with learning difficulties to enjoy their online activities safely.”
