Childnet, with funding from Microsoft, has developed a suite of educational resources to help schools address the misuse of generative AI and nudification.
The resources explore generative AI and how it can be misused, with a specific focus on using generative AI to edit a photo of somebody to make them appear nude or naked, sometimes called ‘nudification’.
It includes three lesson plans, accompanying teacher guidance and an information leaflet for parents and carers to support conversations at home.
The lesson plans cover:
- What generative AI is and its uses
- How it can be misused and the impacts
- How to report AI-generated nude images
Each include accompanying appendices and slides. At the end of the third lesson, there are extension activities educators can use to consolidate learning. The lessons are designed to be an hour long, but educators can divide the content up into smaller sections for shorter lesson lengths.
This resource is for use with learners aged 13-17, but may be suitable for use with 11- and 12-year olds with adaptation.
An accompanying advice leaflet for parents and carers, explores generative AI and how it can be misused, with a specific focus on using AI to edit a photo of somebody to make them appear nude or naked, sometimes called ‘nudification’.
The leaflet includes:
- why young people might choose to use AI to create nude images
- ways parents and carers can support their child with this issue
- where to go for further help or to report AI generated images of this kind
- conversation starters to use at home
